Jason Goode (@goodefootball) will be supplying us with photos this year of games from all over the area. Make sure you check out his work and if you are interested in getting any of his photos make sure you contact him. Click Read More for the link to his photos. And a big thanks to Jason for making Prep Weekly even more involved with the teams across the state.
Friendship Christian School and Donelson Christian Academy entered Week 8 at 6-1, both having lost to Knox Webb and taken care of business with the other teams on their schedules. All that stood in the way of 2ndplace in the East/Middle District of Division II 1-A was each other. Friendship would have to travel to Donelson after pulling out a 52-49 win at home against DCA in 2013. The 2014 meeting wouldn’t produce nearly as many points, but similar to last year, would not be decided until the final moments. Once again, it was the Commanders of FCS pulling out the victory, this time by a score of 13-6.
Throughout the season, I will take a closer look at the five biggest games of the week in the mid-state. This list is subjective and I certainly welcome debate about additions and omissions to the group. After all, debate is part of what makes football so enjoyable. The criteria for the games that make the cut may also change based on atmosphere, history, or special meaning. The one constant is that every game will take place in the state of Tennessee between the Cumberland Plateau in the east and the Tennessee River in the west (Geography can be fun). Now that I’ve thrown out all possible disclaimers, let’s get started. I constantly have people asking me what games they should attend. Well, here’s my answer for Week Eight in no particular order.
